Disney Taps TikTok for Creator-Friendly Content Push
The Walt Disney Company and TikTok have partnered to allow social media creators to make short-form videos using Disney's famous characters. The 'first-of-its-kind' deal will give TikTok users access to Disney assets, including Star Wars, Marvel, and Pixar content, which can be uploaded and shared on both TikTok and Disney+.
The feature is set to roll out in the US in the coming months and will later expand to other countries. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed. The partnership marks a significant move for Disney's new CEO, Josh D'Amaro, who aims to future-proof the company.
D'Amaro stated that the addition of short-form video content 'creates a more complete experience' on Disney+ and encourages users to stay longer and engage more with the platform. He also emphasized that this move is in line with their long-term strategies on streaming.
