P&G Acquires Premium Health Brand Thorne
Procter & Gamble (P&G) has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Thorne, a premium health and wellness brand. The acquisition is expected to expand P&G's presence in the personal health care market.
Thorne was founded in 1984 and offers nutritional supplements and health technology tools to consumers, healthcare practitioners, and athletes. The company operates its own manufacturing facility in South Carolina and has developed products through clinical research and an in-house team of doctors, researchers, and scientists.
'For more than 40 years, Thorne has earned the trust of healthcare practitioners, consumers, and partners by putting science, quality, and the people we serve at the center of every decision,' said Colin Watts, chief executive officer of Thorne. 'As we looked to the future, we kept coming back to one question: What will best position Thorne to continue fulfilling its mission? We believe P&G is the right partner to help us expand our impact while staying true to the values and standards that have always defined Thorne.'
P&G's acquisition of Thorne adds a premium supplement and wellness platform to its portfolio. Consumer interest in preventive health and personalized wellness continues to rise, making this an important step for P&G's Personal Health Care business.
