Disney Team Brings Timeless Magic Back to Alice in Wonderland

The Walt Disney Animation Studios' classic 'Alice in Wonderland' celebrated its 75th anniversary in May, and to commemorate this milestone, the film was restored and re-released. The restoration process was led by Kevin, Director of Restoration and Library Management at The Walt Disney Studios.

According to Kevin, restoring 'Alice in Wonderland' was a passion project for him, as it is one of the essential animated classics created by The Walt Disney Animation Studios. To preserve the film's original design and integrity, the team consulted with professionals familiar with the first production.

The restoration process involved dozens of people across multiple specialties, including Melissa, an Associate Project Manager on Kevin's team. Melissa explained that she assisted her manager Karen with the restoration process and attended color reviews with their colorist and animation restoration guru, Michael Giaimo.

After months of hard work, the newly restored film premiered at the El Capitan Theatre during the Turner Classic Movies Festival. The team was excited to celebrate the success of the project and watch their favorite scenes on the big screen.
