Disney Teams Up with TikTok for Creator-Driven Content Expansion
The Walt Disney Company has partnered with TikTok to allow creators on the short-form video platform to share content featuring Disney characters and scenes from its movies. The deal, described as 'first-of-its-kind global,' will enable creators to produce vertical-format videos that can be accessed through a dedicated tab on Disney+.
The pilot program is set to launch in the US within the coming months, with plans for expansion to other countries after that. According to Asad Ayaz, chief marketing and brand officer of The Walt Disney Company, this collaboration will provide creators with 'a bigger stage to share what they've made,' while also giving audiences more content to discover on Disney+.
TikTok's head of entertainment, Dawn Young, noted that creators play a crucial role in extending the life of films and shows by sparking conversations among fans. She stated that through this partnership with Disney, TikTok is 'bringing the authentic creator expression' of its community to Disney+, allowing audiences to experience 'the shared creativity that makes fandom so powerful.'
