Disney Tests Fireworks Launch Site Amid Speculation Over Star Wars Nighttime Spectaculars

Walt Disney World has been testing a new fireworks launch site at Hollywood Studios, sparking speculation about a potential return of Star Wars-themed nighttime spectaculars. The pyrotechnic launch site was built across from World Drive over a decade ago for the debut of Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular.

However, after only a few years, the World Drive launch site was abandoned in favor of small rooftop locations for nighttime shows. This has led to mixed reviews for Star Wars-themed fireworks, with some critics citing off-center and limited pyro displays.

The recent testing, which involved periodic launches over several hours, suggests that Disney may be gearing up to bring back a fully-fledged fireworks show. While it's possible that the test is related to a private event or party, such as the Gartner IT Symposium, some speculate that this could be an indication of something new for the upcoming phased opening of Monstropolis in 2027 and 2028.

As for the cost of hosting the Gartner IT Symposium, it's estimated to be around $5 million or more, considering event registration fees start at $8,200 and do not include the night at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
