Disney 'Voluntears' Serve on 9-11 National Day of Service
The annual September 11 National Day of Service was observed by Disney 'Voluntears' at the Intrepid Museum in Manhattan on Friday. The group, consisting of members from Disney and ESPN, packed meals for charity as part of their service.
Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro and Debra OConnell, Chairman of Disney Entertainment Television, were among those who participated in the event. Kevin Martinez of ESPN also joined the effort.
The idea to make September 11 a day of service was first conceived in 2002 as a way to honor the spirit of unity and service that arose after the attacks.
