Disney World Closures: Typhoon Lagoon Water Park Shut Down for Refurbishment

Walt Disney World is facing several closures in September 2026 that may impact guests' vacation plans. According to Disney, several attractions, restaurants, and experiences will be unavailable for at least part of the month.

The most significant closure is the shutdown of Typhoon Lagoon water park, which will begin on September 9th. This means that guests arriving during the opening week of September can still potentially squeeze in a visit, but those arriving later in the month will need to find alternative plans.

Other closures include the Magic Kingdom's Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress, which is closed for refurbishment and expected to reopen in 2027. The Walt Disney World Railroad will also be operating on a limited schedule due to construction in the Frontierland area.

Closures are also happening at EPCOT, where Coral Reef Restaurant will close from September 8th for maintenance, and at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, where Grand Floridian Cafe is closed throughout September. Additionally, Vacation Fun, a Mickey and Minnie animated short presented inside the Mickey Shorts Theater at Hollywood Studios, is temporarily unavailable.
