Disney World Imposes New Holiday Season Restrictions
Walt Disney World is introducing several new restrictions for the upcoming Christmas season, aimed at managing the typically large crowds during the holidays. The changes could impact how visitors plan their days, meals, and even where they watch the fireworks.
One of the key changes is that resort decorations will be restricted to guests staying at the resorts or those with valid dining reservations. This means visitors who are not staying or dining at a resort may not be able to see the holiday decor. Additionally, the large gingerbread house at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa will not return this year, though smaller gingerbread displays will be available.
Special holiday events like Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and Jollywood Nights at Disney's Hollywood Studios require separate tickets. On these nights, the parks close early to the general public, so visitors need to plan accordingly if they want to attend both the regular park and the special event.
Transportation at Disney Springs has also seen permanent changes. Buses and boats now require a valid hotel or dining reservation to board, and any dining reservation must be within two hours of the reservation time. This means visitors cannot park at Disney Springs and catch a bus to a resort without a reservation.
During peak times, mobile ordering through the My Disney Experience app may be limited to guests staying at specific resorts. While this has not been confirmed for the holidays, it is a possibility to keep in mind. Visitors should still be able to order in person at quick service counters.
Another potential restriction is that the beach at the Polynesian Village Resort, a popular spot for watching Magic Kingdom fireworks, may be off-limits to non-guests during the holidays. Visitors should have a backup viewing spot in case this rule is enforced.
