Disney World Replaces Pressed Penny Machines with Digital Designs

The Walt Disney World Resort has been slowly replacing its older pressed-penny machines with newer designs featuring digital screens. These updated machines accept both cash and cards, but guests paying with cards must purchase all eight designs for $5 rather than choosing just one for $1.

According to Inside the Magic, over the last several months, new pressed penny machines have been installed in various lands around Magic Kingdom Park. The new machines feature digital screens and allow guests to purchase copper discs that are flattened and stamped when they complete their payments.

The updated machines can be found at Storybook Circus (Fantasyland), near Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin (Tomorrowland), the Star Traders gift shop (Tomorrowland), the Tomorrowland Speedway attraction, Tony's Town Square Restaurant, and the Walt Disney World Railroad station on Main Street, U.S.A.

Additionally, new collectible medallion machines have been installed around Magic Kingdom Park. These dispensers sell premade coins for $10 each or four designs for $35. The colorful medallions feature a Disney character in an outfit or pose tied to nearby attractions and experiences.
