Disney World Rolls Out New Cars-Themed Land Amidst Closures

Disney World has been making headlines with its various announcements and updates. While it's not all bad news, some closures have left fans disappointed. One of the most notable changes is the permanent closure of the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island in Magic Kingdom.

This decision was made to make way for a new Cars area called Piston Peak National Park, which will feature two brand-new attractions and be themed like a national park. The construction walls are up in the area now, and the structures on Tom Sawyer Island have been demolished.

In other Magic Kingdom news, Carousel of Progress closed on July 6th for a major refurbishment to revamp its scenes and add a new Walt Disney animatronic. Unfortunately, it won't reopen until 2027.
