Disney World Unveils Ambitious Expansion Plans with Multiple New Lands and Attractions
The Walt Disney World resort is undergoing its biggest expansion in decades, with multiple new lands and attractions under construction across four theme parks.
Villains Land will be a dedicated area for Disney's most beloved baddies at Magic Kingdom, featuring two new attractions: a Maleficent-themed roller coaster and a Mirror Realm dark ride. The land is currently in the design phase, but no opening date has been announced.
Piston Peak National Park, another Magic Kingdom expansion, will bring Cars to life with two new rides: Miss Fritter's Daredevil Spin-Along and Cars Ridge Run Rally. Construction is underway, but a specific opening date remains unannounced.
Disney's Hollywood Studios is getting its own Monster-themed land, Monstropolis, which will feature a suspended coaster, Disney's first vertical lift, as well as the Glob Theater show 'Welcome to Monstropolis' and Harryhausen's Restaurant. The land is currently under construction, but the theater show, dining, and shopping are expected to open in 2027.
Tropical Americas, replacing DinoLand U.S.A., will be the biggest project at Animal Kingdom with three new attractions: Encanto, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, and a family-friendly carousel called El Carrusel de los Animalitos. The land is expected to open in Fall 2027.
EPCOT's Spaceship Earth and Journey Into Imagination are also getting makeovers, with new scenes and storylines added to both rides. No specific opening dates have been announced for either attraction.
