Amazon Expands Drone Delivery Service to Almost 500 US Cities
Amazon is rapidly expanding its Prime Air drone delivery service across the United States. By the end of 2026, the program will be available in nearly 500 cities and towns, a sixfold increase from its current footprint of 175-square-miles across parts of Arizona, Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Nebraska, and Texas.
The expansion plans include launching drone delivery services in new areas such as Chicago, Illinois; Syracuse, New York; Cleveland, Ohio; Atlanta, Georgia; and Boise, Idaho. The service will be available to customers through the existing Amazon shopping experience, including through the app and website.
Amazon Prime members can enjoy free drone deliveries for orders over $50, while non-Prime customers will pay a fee of $4.99. Deliveries are expected to take as little as 30 minutes, with most arriving about an hour after checkout. The service is available for nearly all in-stock items that weigh five pounds or less and can fit in a large shoebox.
