Disney's Alien Swirling Saucers Gets a Swift Boost with New Lilypad's Jams Overlay

Taylor Swift's connection to Walt Disney World continues to grow, and this time it's showing up in one of Hollywood Studios' attractions. Alien Swirling Saucers has debuted a new overlay called Lilypad's Jams, featuring a fresh soundtrack that includes an instrumental version of a Swift-penned track from Toy Story 5.

The new overlay introduces a character named Lilypad, a frog-shaped smart tablet who joins Woody, Jessie, and Buzz Lightyear in Andy's backyard. Lilypad's mission is to connect friends through music, using her tech to remix and mash up songs across various genres for the ride's soundtrack.

The playlist includes two original songs, alongside remixed classics like 'You've Got a Friend in Me' and 'We Belong Together.' Disney has said Imagineers traveled to Nashville to work with musicians from pop, country, EDM, and alt rock genres to create the new soundtrack.

However, some fans have criticized the decision to use an instrumental version of 'I Knew It, I Knew You,' a Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff-penned track that originally appeared in Toy Story 5. They argue it saps the energy from the attraction, which was supposed to be more upbeat.

Despite this criticism, Disney hasn't announced an end date for the overlay, and given its ties to the Toy Story 5 release on Disney+, there's a reasonable chance it becomes permanent if guests respond well to it. The update lands during a busy stretch for Swift herself, with her latest single releasing around the same time.
