Disney’s Alien Swirling Saucers Gets Christmas Music Overlay
The Alien Swirling Saucers ride at Walt Disney World is getting its first-ever Christmas-themed overlay, transforming into Lilypad’s Jams for the holiday season. Starting November 4, 2026, and running through January 6, 2027, the ride will feature new holiday music, including remixes of classic festive tunes like "Deck the Halls" and "Toyland," as well as original songs like "Swirling, Swirling, Saucers" and "Joy to the Swirl." This seasonal twist comes after the recent introduction of Lilypad’s Jams, a ride overlay that reimagines Alien Swirling Saucers with a fresh soundtrack curated by DJ Lilypad, a frog-shaped smart tablet from Toy Story.
The current Lilypad’s Jams overlay features a mix of original songs and remixes of Toy Story classics, blending pop, country, EDM, and alt-rock genres. The ride has been well-received by younger audiences, particularly the author’s daughter, who lists it as her favorite attraction. While the author notes that the ride’s appeal is largely due to its Toy Story ties rather than the overlay itself, they express enthusiasm for the upcoming Christmas music.
Disney has not confirmed whether the Lilypad’s Jams overlay will remain permanent, but it is expected to continue at least through early January 2027. The author also shares a critical perspective on Toy Story Land, arguing that while it is popular due to its beloved IP and attractions, the land itself lacks the immersive design and cohesion of other theme park areas. Despite this, the holiday overlay is seen as a positive addition, especially for families visiting during the Christmas season.
