Disney's Animal Kingdom Unveils Indiana Jones Attraction Details

Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park is preparing to welcome a new Indiana Jones attraction called 'Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent'. The ride will be situated in the Tropical Americas land, which is currently under construction. The attraction promises to blend classic Indiana Jones adventure with rich cultural details that are quintessential to Animal Kingdom.

During D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by Visa, Imagineers Michael Hundgen and Chris Beatty revealed a treasure trove of announcements about the new ride. One of the most exciting updates was that Harrison Ford, who played Indiana Jones in the movies, will be the actual model for the next animatronic figure.

According to the Imagineers, the attraction takes riders on a journey alongside Indy, beneath an ancient temple ruin, showcasing Maya culture and its profound connection to nature. The project team remains dedicated to authentic storytelling, working closely with archaeologists, anthropologists, and Maya experts to ensure that every element is accurate for the region.

The ride's storyline follows Dr. Jones as he explores a mysterious temple near a once water-filled underground cave called a cenote. Local legend says the passageway leads directly to the Maya Underworld, protected by a serpentine creature known as the Tsukán. Riders will be unwittingly sucked through a portal to the Underworld, where they'll have to escape perilous dangers.
