Disney's Carousel of Progress Gets Major Overhaul Ahead of 2027 Reopening
Disney's Carousel of Progress is undergoing a major refurbishment that will shift its timeline forward by 60 years. The ride has been closed since July 6, 2026, and is expected to reopen in late Spring 2027.
The refurbished attraction will feature new Audio-Animatronic technology, including an advanced model of Walt Disney himself inspired by his 1964 television special. The ride's scenes will be updated to reflect the 1960s, 1980s, and 1999, rather than the original 1900s, 1920s, and 1940s.
The Imagineers working on the project are using their personal experiences and connections to the time periods being featured. They are also incorporating authentic period pieces and practical effects throughout the ride.
