Disney's Off-Season Shift: Summer Crowds Rise as Traditional Low-Period Ends
Walt Disney World's traditional off-season has seen significant changes in recent years. The period, which used to start right after back-to-school season in August and last for about six weeks, is now experiencing increased crowds. According to a report by the Disney Tourist Blog, the summer of 2026 saw low wait times for Walt Disney World visitors, but not as low as one would expect during an off-season.
The blog's analysis of data from Thrill-Data.com shows that June and July had lower wait times than usual, with some weeks seeing average wait times below 20 minutes. However, this was followed by a slight increase in August and September, which is typically considered the start of the off-season.
The blog notes that the data suggests that the summer season has become less busy, resulting in little daylight between random dates throughout the year. This shift may be due to changes in visitor behavior or the introduction of new attractions and events at Walt Disney World.
