Disney's September Lineup Aims to Sustain Summer Surge
Disney's August surge may be sustained in September as several events unfold. The media giant's shares rose by 12% last month, driven partly by a strong financial update and market rotation towards dividend-paying stocks. While there won't be another quarterly report this time around, Disney is introducing new content and theme park experiences that could move the stock.
One such event is the arrival of Star Wars: The Mandalorian on Disney+, set for September 2. Although the movie's box office performance was disappointing, its availability on the streaming platform will likely boost the service's exposure and retention rates. Rotten Tomatoes polls indicate that a healthy 86% of viewers recommend the film.
Additionally, Lego Star Wars: The Mandalorian premieres on Disney+ on the same day. This could also attract more visitors to Disneyland in California and Disney World in Florida, given the presence of Mando and Grogu at these locations.
On September 14, Disney's Magic of Disney Animation will debut at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida. The refreshed indoor space features several interactive experiences, including character meet-and-greet stations and an Alice in Wonderland-themed playground area.
