Disney's Third Round of Layoffs Hits Tech and HR Departments

The Walt Disney Company is undertaking its third round of layoffs in 2026, affecting hundreds of employees across various departments. The latest cuts come as part of Disney's efforts to centralize marketing and implement AI-driven efficiencies.

Since Josh D'Amaro took over as CEO in March 2026, Disney has conducted multiple rounds of layoffs, with the first round in April impacting up to 1,000 employees and the second in July affecting several hundred workers from various areas, including film studios and corporate functions.

The current layoffs are reportedly fewer in number than the previous two rounds, but still significant. The affected departments include tech and HR, with some employees being let go due to automation efforts within Legal and Global Affairs (LGA).
