Disney's Tiana's Bayou Adventure to Undergo Long-Overdue Refurbishment

Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Walt Disney World will undergo its first refurbishment in November 2026, after months of reliability and downtime woes. The refurbishment is badly needed and overdue, according to Disney experts. It's expected to reopen before Christmas in December 2026, after a closure that started on November 2, 2026. This refurbishment marks the first time Tiana's Bayou Adventure will be closed for maintenance, despite its troubled past.

Disney has effectively thrown in the towel on show quality standards (SQS) for Tiana's Bayou Adventure, allowing it to run with broken Audio Animatronics and other issues. This decision has been met with criticism from Imagineering teams, who prefer higher standards of quality and reliability.

The timing of the refurbishment is also noteworthy, as Disney typically schedules water ride closures during the winter months when demand is lower. The November 2026 closure may indicate a change in strategy or a prioritization of other projects at Walt Disney World.
