Diversified Banks Post Strong Q2 Results Amid Industry Challenges
The end of an earnings season can be a great time to discover new stocks and assess how companies are handling the current business environment. Diversified banks, which take in deposits and engage in various forms of lending, reported strong Q2 results. Revenues across the sector beat analysts' consensus estimates by 4.6%.
JPMorgan Chase (NYSE:JPM), a leading financial services company founded in 1799, pulled off the biggest analyst estimate beat and fastest revenue growth in the group. Its revenues increased by 27% year on year to $58.02 billion, exceeding analysts' expectations by 13%. The stock is up 5.4% since reporting.
Other notable performers include Citigroup (NYSE:C), which reported a strong Q2 with revenues of $24.79 billion, up 14.3% year on year, outperforming analysts' expectations by 4.5%. Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC) and PNC Financial Services Group (NYSE:PNC) also reported impressive results.
However, U.S. Bancorp (NYSE:USB), one of America's largest banks, posted a mixed quarter with revenues increasing by 9.9% year on year to $7.76 billion, but missing analysts' tangible book value per share estimates.
