The Dow Jones Industrial Average edged higher on Monday by 0.21% to 53,389.19 as investors assessed geopolitical risks and falling oil prices.

Oil prices declined after gaining strongly last week, with Brent crude falling about 1.1% to $93.38 a barrel and US West Texas Intermediate crude declining 1.6% to $85.64.

The market is closely watching the US administration's planned sanctions against Iran, with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent expected to provide further details on these measures.

Nvidia shares fell 2.44% in Monday trading, contributing to a decline of more than 1% in the technology sector ahead of the company's quarterly results scheduled for Wednesday.
