Dow Jones Rises as Nvidia Leads AI Charge
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is expected to open higher on Monday, September 21, after a volatile previous week. The futures market suggests a gain of around 0.8%, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq also poised for a positive start.
Nvidia was among the top performers in premarket trading, with its shares rising by about 1%. This comes as other AI-related stocks also showed gains, following concerns raised last week about the pace and direction of AI development.
Oil prices were another factor influencing markets on Monday, falling around 3.2% to $100.50 a barrel for Brent crude. Lower oil prices can ease inflationary pressure, which has been a major concern for Wall Street in recent times.
The Federal Reserve's interest-rate decision and the possibility of another rate hike remain in focus, with markets pricing a 53% chance of an increase next month. Treasury yields have also eased from their recent highs, falling to around 4.95%.
