Dow Rallies 0.44% as AI Stocks Offset Oil Price Fears
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 0.44% on Friday, September 25, as investors' optimism around artificial intelligence helped offset concerns over elevated oil prices and rising Treasury yields.
Ahead of the session, Microsoft shares jumped about 3% after unveiling new capabilities for its Copilot application, including a coding tool and an always-on AI agent. Nvidia also remained in focus as investors continued to assess the strength of the AI trade.
The latest move comes after Thursday's session saw the Dow Jones decline by about 0.31% to close at 51,349.98, while the S&P 500 finished nearly flat and the Nasdaq edged higher.
Rising Treasury yields are another key factor for Wall Street, as higher yields can increase borrowing costs and make fixed-income assets relatively more attractive compared with stocks. New York Fed President John Williams said Thursday that another rate increase this year could be reasonable.
