McDonald's Stock Hits 52-Week Floor Amid Wall Street Reevaluation
McDonald's stock has been trading at its 52-week floor as Wall Street analysts reassess their targets. The stock closed at EUR 207.60 on Friday, narrowly above the EUR 205.80 low reached earlier in the year. This decline has prompted a reevaluation of McDonald's performance and future prospects.
The company's turnaround efforts are centered around its NEXT program, which will invest $8.5 billion in the franchise network by 2036. A significant portion of this investment is earmarked for deployment by 2030, with a focus on rent relief, capital support, automated kitchen workflows, and employee training.
Management aims to achieve an operating margin in the low-to-mid 50% range by 2030, while also targeting a 250-basis-point lift in gross efficiency. This could add approximately $100,000 in annual cash flow to a typical US location.
However, McDonald's faces challenges from eroding momentum and changing consumer habits. Same-store sales rose 6.8% in the fourth quarter of 2025 but decelerated to 3.9% in the first quarter of 2026 and 0.8% in the second. The company is shifting its strategy to adapt to these changes, with a focus on digital loyalty programs and menu innovation.
