Dow Rebounds but Remains Cautious Amid Elevated Yields
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rebounded on August 21 after a sharp sell-off in the previous session, rising 0.68% or 361.71 points to 53,119.88.
Despite the gains, investors remained cautious due to elevated Treasury yields, high oil prices, and uncertainty over Federal Reserve policy.
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite also rose, but both indexes were on track for weekly declines, with the Dow headed for its second straight weekly decline.
Financial stocks provided a boost to Wall Street, with JPMorgan Chase rising 1.2% and Goldman Sachs gaining 2.3%. Meta and Tesla each gained more than 1%, while cryptocurrency-linked stocks posted strong gains as Bitcoin climbed to its highest level since late May.
