Dow Tumbles Amid Bank Share Decline, Tech Stocks Rally
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) rose to its highest level since September 14 on Tuesday, but quickly turned lower once trading started in New York. It now trades near 51,800, below Monday's close.
The DJIA is heavily influenced by bank shares, which are falling across the market. Traders are moving money into technology, with a growing interest in artificial intelligence agents and apps that carry out tasks like booking travel.
JPMorgan Chase (JPM), the biggest bank in the country, is falling along with the rest of the financial sector. JPMorgan's own analysts raised their rating on Meta Platforms (META) earlier in September due to its new agent, and Meta is one of the stocks seeing increased buying interest.
