Eastland County Wildfire Burns 625 Acres, 50% Contained
A wildfire in Eastland County, Texas has burned an estimated 625 acres and is now 50% contained. The Lobo Fire was reported near U.S. Highway 183 and County Road 155, north of Cisco. According to Jason Weger, Eastland County emergency management coordinator, the forward progress of the fire has been stopped.
U.S. Highway 183 had been partially closed due to the fire but has since reopened. However, County Road 155 remains closed as crews continue working in the area. Officials are asking people to avoid the area to give emergency personnel room to work.
Aircraft have been assisting firefighting efforts by collecting water from Lake Leon and Lake Cisco. An alert was issued on Monday asking people to stay off Lake Cisco while aircraft operate nearby. Multiple agencies, including local fire departments and law enforcement, are responding to the fire.
