Edmond DE Rothschild Takes $251B Bet on Amazon
Edmond DE Rothschild Holding S.A., a prominent institutional investor, has taken a significant stake in Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN). According to its latest Form 13F filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission, Edmond DE Rothschild acquired approximately 1,054,853 shares of Amazon's stock in the second quarter, valued at around $251,414,000.
This acquisition represents about 3.3% of Edmond DE Rothschild Holding S.A.'s portfolio, making Amazon its third-largest holding. The company's investment in Amazon comes as no surprise, given the e-commerce giant's dominant market position and growing cloud infrastructure business.
Other notable institutional investors have also boosted their stakes in Amazon over recent quarters. Bank of New York Mellon Corp acquired a new position in Amazon in the second quarter valued at $16,341,405,000. Invesco Ltd., Amundi, and Dimensional Fund Advisors LP all increased their holdings in shares of Amazon.com.
The acquisition by Edmond DE Rothschild comes as Amazon continues to invest heavily in its cloud infrastructure business, including a reported deal with Qualcomm for up to $60 billion worth of AI chips. The partnership aims to expand U.S. server manufacturing capacity and create nearly 1,000 jobs.
