Efteling's Refillable Cup Sales Skyrocket After Sugar Consumption Criticism
Theme park Efteling has seen a surge in sales of its refillable soft-drink cups, despite criticism from food advocacy group Foodwatch. The cups, which cost 17 euros each, allow visitors to refill their drinks every 45 minutes under the D'n Dorstlesser program operated with Coca-Cola.
The program allows guests to pick a primary flavor and combine it with fruit flavors. However, Foodwatch argued that the park was encouraging excessive sugar consumption by offering unlimited refills for a fixed amount, which they claim can lead to overconsumption of sugary drinks.
Foodwatch's criticism came two weeks before the cups sold out, sparking controversy about whether their actions contributed to increased demand. The group stated that if their action had indeed led to increased sales, it would only confirm their concerns about the revenue model behind D'n Dorstlesser.
