Egypt, Chevron Close to Linking Aphrodite Gas Field to Egyptian Energy Network
The Egyptian Petroleum Ministry and Chevron are nearing completion of plans to link the Aphrodite gas field in Cyprus to Egypt's energy network.
Aphrodite, which holds an estimated 3.7 trillion cubic feet of reserves, is expected to transport its gas through a 280-kilometer subsea pipeline to Port Said for processing and re-export.
The project aims to strengthen Egypt's position as a regional energy hub while meeting the country's rising demand for natural gas.
Chevron holds a 35% stake in the field, alongside Shell, which also owns 35% of Aphrodite.
