Ethiopian Airlines Eyes Up to 10 New Boeing Cargo Jets Amid Airfreight Ambitions

Ethiopian Airlines is reportedly close to signing an agreement with Boeing for up to 10 long-haul freighters, which would significantly boost its cargo capacity and support the country's ambition to develop a major airfreight gateway.

The potential deal includes two current-generation Boeing 777Fs, as well as additional aircraft from the delayed 777-8F program. The carrier operates a substantial Boeing freighter fleet, including 12 777Fs, alongside Boeing 767 and converted 737 freighters.

The reported order is expected to involve eight to 10 aircraft, although the final number and aircraft mix could still change. Boeing has declined to comment on speculation, while Ethiopian Airlines had not immediately confirmed the prospective purchase.
