FAA Clears Boeing 737 MAX 10 for Certification Amid Software Glitch Concerns
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has cleared the way for the certification of Boeing's largest 737 MAX variant, the MAX 10. The decision comes after a panel of experts determined that a software glitch poses no safety concern.
The issue was related to a software version that could prevent pilots from accessing automated flight guidance during an unusual landing scenario. However, the FAA stated that 'pilots retain full control of the aircraft and the indications to the flight crew are clear and unambiguous.'
Boeing has approximately 1,500 MAX 10s on order from airlines, including Southwest Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and United Airlines. The certification of the MAX 10 is expected to be completed as soon as later this month.
