FAA Issues AD for Boeing Jet Fuselage Cracks Amid Structural Integrity Concerns

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued an Airworthiness Directive (AD) for Boeing's 737-8, 737-9, and 737-8200 aircraft due to concerns over fuselage cracks.

The directive targets the 'bear strap', a structural metal sheet that reinforces the fuselage skin around door cutouts. Cracks have been discovered at the forward galley door cutout, which could compromise the principal structural element's ability to sustain limit loads and affect the aircraft's overall integrity.

According to the FAA, 471 aircraft are estimated to be affected by this directive, with inspections required starting September 10. The agency received reports of cracks in the 'bear strap' and is taking proactive measures to address the issue.
