FAA Reviews Flight Guidance Issue on Some 737 MAX Aircraft

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is reviewing an issue in the flight management computer software on some Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

Two US airlines, Alaska and American Airlines, have told Boeing they will not accept new aircraft carrying the affected software.

Boeing says the glitch is not an immediate safety issue but may cause pilots to lose access to automated flight guidance during a specific landing scenario.

The agency has convened a Corrective Action Review Board (CARB) to review Boeing's proposed solution and determine whether it addresses any safety concerns.
