FedEx has unveiled a Boeing 777 Freighter painted in its original purple-and-orange colors to honor founder Frederick W. Smith, who passed away in June 2025.

The aircraft, named Rosie after one of Smith's granddaughters, made a ceremonial landing at the newly renamed Frederick W. Smith International Airport in Memphis as Flight 1944, referencing Smith's birth year.

The airport was rechristened to recognize Smith's role in transforming it into one of the world's busiest air cargo centers and pioneering the overnight express delivery business.
