FIP Demands Wider Scrutiny of Boeing 787 Technical Records in Air India Crash Probe

The Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) has called for a thorough investigation into the crash of Air India's AI-171 Boeing 787 aircraft. In a letter to the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), FIP President Capt. CS Randhawa urged the agency to examine electrical, electronic, and avionics-related evidence.

The pilots' body cited concerns about the Boeing 787's 'More Electric Aircraft' architecture, which makes electrical generation, distribution, monitoring, and data-network systems critical to safe operation.

FIP also requested a review of historical maintenance and reliability data, including technical log entries, deferred defects, repetitive fault reports, troubleshooting records, component replacements, reliability monitoring data, and engineering corrective actions carried out throughout the aircraft's service life.
