Firetrail Investments Buys $23M Worth of Amazon Stock, Boosting E-Commerce Giant's Portfolio Holdings
Firetrail Investments PTY Ltd., an Australian investment firm, has made a significant purchase of Amazon.com shares in its portfolio. According to the company's most recent 13F filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Firetrail acquired approximately $23 million worth of Amazon stock, representing about 6.7% of its total holdings. The firm purchased 99,939 shares of Amazon's stock, making it the e-commerce giant's fourth-largest holding in the portfolio.
Other investors have also increased their stakes in Amazon.com during the first quarter. Red Crane Wealth Management LLC boosted its stake by 2.3%, while Robinson Smith Wealth Advisors LLC and Sfam LLC each increased their holdings by 0.7% and 3.4%, respectively. CoreFirst Bank & Trust raised its stake by 1.1%. As of now, institutional investors and hedge funds collectively own about 72.20% of Amazon's shares.
Amazon's stock price opened at $256.78 on Friday, with a market cap of over $2.77 trillion. The company reported earnings per share (EPS) of $5.75 for the quarter, surpassing analyst expectations by $3.93. Amazon.com's revenue rose 19.6% year-over-year to $200.61 billion.
Analysts have expressed positive sentiment towards Amazon's AI infrastructure position due to a major partnership with Qualcomm and AWS' rapid growth. However, risks remain around costs, leverage, and operations as the company invests heavily in its AI buildout.
