Five AI Stocks Making Billion-Dollar Share Buybacks
Share buybacks are a significant indicator of a company’s financial health and management confidence, especially in the tech sector. As tech companies shift from software-driven models to capital-intensive infrastructure and data centers, buybacks serve as a key signal of their ability to maintain capital returns despite hefty investments. Five major AI stocks, NVIDIA, Salesforce, Adobe, Qualcomm, and Jabil, are making substantial buybacks, reflecting their strong cash flow and strategic positioning.
NVIDIA has significantly boosted its share buyback plan, increasing it by $150 billion to approximately $225 billion, covering about 4.2% of its market cap. The company’s buyback is backed by robust cash flow, projected to exceed $150 billion by fiscal 2027, and a strong balance sheet with over $75 billion in marketable securities. Similarly, Salesforce has authorized $50 billion in buybacks, with an aggressive $25 billion accelerated share repurchase plan in place. The company has already reduced its share count by 14.6% year-over-year, with another $25 billion remaining under its authorization.
Adobe’s share price is currently depressed, but its buyback program remains strong, reducing the share count by over 6% in the first nine months of fiscal 2026. Qualcomm, a key semiconductor supplier, has reduced its share count by 3.5% in the first nine months of the year, supported by reliable cash flow and a solid balance sheet. Meanwhile, Jabil, a crucial player in the AI supply chain, has reduced its share count by 3.6% in fiscal 2026, with strong cash flow and guidance forecasting a 24% revenue increase driven by AI and datacenter demand.
These buybacks highlight the companies’ confidence in their financial stability and growth prospects, despite the challenges posed by heavy investments in infrastructure and data centers. The reliability of these programs is underpinned by strong cash flow, solid balance sheets, and strategic positioning in the AI sector.
