Flo, the fertility tracking app, has agreed to pay nearly $60 million in a class action lawsuit settlement. The lawsuit claims that Flo sold users' private health data to Google and Meta without consent.

The settlement applies to users who downloaded and used the app between November 1, 2016, and February 28, 2019. California residents will receive double the payment amount compared to those in other states.

The lawsuit alleges that Flo shared user data with Google and Meta to send targeted ads related to menstrual cycles or pregnancies. This scheme was particularly concerning for users who received ads despite not planning a pregnancy or even knowing they were pregnant.

A separate lawsuit against Meta resulted in a $8 billion verdict, although the decision is still on appeal.
