Australia was the last holdout market for Fortnite's return to Google Play, and on September 24, 2026, its six-year exile finally ended. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) authorized a settlement between Google and Epic Games that unwinds the ban imposed in August 2020. As part of this deal, Google will cut its standard commission rate from 30% to 20% for qualifying transactions.

The Australian case against Apple is still pending, with no equivalent settlement in sight. Epic's separate Australian case against Google was dismissed by consent after the global Epic-Google settlement in March 2026.
