Forza Horizon 6 Delay Hits PS5 Owners
The release of Forza Horizon 6 on PlayStation 5 may be delayed until spring 2027, contradicting Microsoft's promise that it would arrive later in 2026. According to Tom Warren from The Verge, sources close to the project indicate that the studio plans to bundle the PS5 launch with a major content drop, coinciding with the one-year anniversary of the original game's release.
This decision is reportedly a deliberate business strategy, rather than a fear of being overshadowed by the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto VI in autumn 2026. The delay has sparked concerns among PS5 players, who were expecting to see the game arrive soon after its Xbox Series X/S and PC launch on May 19, 2026.
Playground Games had previously stated that Forza Horizon 6 would be released on PS5 later in 2026, but their wording has left room for interpretation. The delay could potentially put a dent in Microsoft's narrative of bringing its racing games to non-Microsoft platforms, as seen with the release of Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 in April 2025.
