FTAI Aviation Acquires 27 Boeing Aircraft from WestJet
FTAI Aviation has expanded its fleet and supply chain capabilities with the acquisition of 27 Boeing 737-700 aircraft from WestJet. The deal consists of two components, with FTAI's 2026 SPV acquiring 17 leased aircraft through a sale-leaseback arrangement, and purchasing an additional 10 off-lease planes for its Aerospace Products business.
The acquisition is part of FTAI's Strategic Capital business, which has established a dedicated investment vehicle to acquire mid-life 737NG and A320ceo aircraft. This follows the success of FTAI's 2025 SPV, which raised $2.0 billion in equity commitments and has committed approximately $6.0 billion of total capital across more than 300 aircraft.
The off-lease aircraft will expand FTAI's supply of CFM56-7B engines and modules available to its Maintenance, Repair and Exchange customers. According to David Moreno, President at FTAI, the transaction demonstrates how the company's Strategic Capital and Aerospace Products businesses work together to offer airlines comprehensive fleet solutions.
