South Korean AI chip startup FuriosaAI has significantly boosted its valuation, reaching $2.9 billion after a successful funding round. The company quadrupled its worth following a Series D round that raised $620 million, positioning itself as a formidable competitor to industry giant Nvidia Corp.
The Seoul-based startup announced the funding on Thursday, revealing that it secured contributions from a mix of domestic and international investors. US-based Infinitum Partners led the round, while South Korea’s National Growth Fund chipped in $280 million. Additional support came from global investors, including Jericho Capital, Worldline Capital, Singapore’s QUDA Capital, and Abu Dhabi-based NeoFort Holding.
The substantial influx of capital underscores the growing confidence in FuriosaAI’s potential to challenge the dominance of established players in the AI chip market. The funding round highlights the increasing interest in AI-driven technologies and the strategic importance of semiconductor innovation.
