Germantown Pays Tribute to Late Charles Jennings, Decades-Long IBM Veteran
Charles R. Jennings, a 32-year veteran of IBM and computer systems engineer, passed away on August 14 at the age of 88 in Memphis, Tennessee. Born in Kosciusko, Mississippi, in 1938, Jennings was raised with his siblings by parents Sam and Cora. He pursued physics at Millsaps College, where he met his future wife Lady Ann Snuggs in 1960.
After graduating, Jennings joined IBM, working as a computer systems engineer for three decades. During this time, the family lived in Houston, Amarillo, Chicago, and eventually settled in Germantown, Tennessee, in 1971. He was an active member of the local community, participating in scouting and serving as treasurer of GUMC's Boy Scout Troop 64.
Jennings' dedication to his community earned him recognition on October 6, 2008, when the City of Germantown declared it 'Charles Jennings Day'. The family will hold a memorial service at Germantown United Methodist Church on August 28, with donations going towards the church's music fund or a charity of choice.
