God of War Series Gets New Lead as Original Actor Recovers from Injury
Amazon's God of War series has been making waves in the streaming world. The show was initially announced in January, with Sons of Anarchy actor Ryan Hurst set to play Kratos. However, during filming in Vancouver in June, Hurst suffered a serious biceps injury that required substantial recovery time.
The production team had to pause and recast Kratos, which led to Dave Bautista being cast as the new Kratos just weeks later. This change came at an interesting time for Bautista's career, as he had recently slimmed down from his brawny physique in preparation for future roles.
Just days after being cast as Kratos, Bautista shared on Instagram that he was bulking up again to get back to his previous physical condition. Meanwhile, the production team announced that two key characters would be recast in the second season due to child actors Callum Vinson and Island Austin not being old enough to play teenage versions of their roles.
