Goldman Sachs Downgrades Kuehne Nagel to Neutral on Narrower Upside

Goldman Sachs has downgraded Kuehne + Nagel from Buy to Neutral, citing a narrowing of the Swiss logistics group's relative upside potential after a period of strong share-price performance. The bank kept its 12-month price target unchanged at CHF265, which suggests around 9% upside from the current share price, slightly below the sector average of 10%. The downgrade reflects a more balanced risk-reward assessment rather than any deterioration in the company's operating outlook.

The bank highlighted Kuehne + Nagel's strong fundamental and financial performance this year, noting improvements in conversion margins within its Air and Sea division. The margins have risen from last year's 25% level and are expected to reach 31% in 2026. Goldman Sachs also pointed to early progress in deploying artificial intelligence tools across these divisions, anticipating material productivity gains from 2027.

While Goldman Sachs' earnings view for Kuehne + Nagel remains more constructive than market consensus, the gap has narrowed since the first half of the year. The bank's outlook is now less differentiated from broader investor expectations, which are higher than sell-side consensus for the fourth quarter and 2027. A potential cooling in the container market during 2027 also contributed to the more cautious stance.

The downgrade underscores a more balanced risk-reward assessment following the stock's outperformance, with the bank retaining its existing forecasts and CHF265 price target.
