Goldman Sachs reported a remarkable 72% year-over-year surge in its Equities net revenues for the third quarter of 2026, reaching $6.44 billion. This performance marks the company's second-highest quarterly result in this business, driven by strong client activity, rising financing demand, and strength in derivatives. For the first nine months of 2026, Equities revenues increased 57% year over year to $19.18 billion, reflecting sustained business momentum.

The bank continues to benefit from robust demand for prime brokerage, portfolio financing, and risk intermediation services. Management highlighted that demand for Equities financing exceeds available industry capacity, allowing Goldman to maintain attractive pricing and selective capital deployment. Multi-year investments in its global franchise, particularly in Asia, have strengthened its financing capabilities and supported higher client activity.

Equities financing revenues surged 96% year-over-year to a record $3.37 billion in the third quarter of 2026. Combined Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (“FICC”) and Equities financing revenues reached a record $12.7 billion in the first nine months of 2026, accounting for more than 40% of total FICC and Equities revenues. This growing contribution is expected to enhance revenue stability and reduce dependence on transactional trading activity.

Despite strong performance, market volatility, weaker trading activity, elevated interest rates, and geopolitical uncertainties could weigh on revenues. However, Goldman's strong market position, diversified financing platform, and expanding client relationships position it well for long-term growth. Peers like Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan also reported strong Equities performance, with Morgan Stanley's revenues up 41% year over year and JPMorgan's up 49% year over year.
