Goldman Sachs Sees 1.6% Air Traffic Growth in August Amid Volatile Fuel Costs
Goldman Sachs has forecasted a 1.6% year-over-year increase in global air traffic for August, citing individual airline reports and TSA passenger volume data. The firm also expects the global airline load factor to reach 86% for the month.
The company's analysis of global airline forward scheduled capacity shows year-over-year growth rates of 2% in September, 3% in October, and 3% in November. This controlled expansion is a response to volatile fuel costs.
Boeing reported 15 new orders with zero cancellations in August, while Airbus had 67 new aircraft orders with no cancellations for the same period. The parked aircraft as a percentage of total fleet stands at 11.3%, up 20 basis points month-over-month.
