Google Aims for Seamless Android-Laptop Synergy with Googlebook Launch
Google has launched its new Googlebook laptop platform, which aims to bring seamless connectivity between Android phones and laptops. The company unveiled five new computers from HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, and Asus that meet the Googlebooks standard, starting at $899.
The Googlebook interface is a distinct operating system optimized for x86 and ARM chip architectures, merging Android's mobile-first OS with ChromeOS. It offers three tiers of app optimization: Made for Desktop, Optimized for Desktop, and Better on the Web. Over 20 apps are already available in the 'Made for Desktop' tier, including Adobe Photoshop and Notability.
The platform also features AI-powered core features, such as Magic Pointer, which suggests contextual actions when you wiggle your mouse pointer over an item. Additionally, Google's Rambler feature, a voice dictation engine, is integrated into Googlebook.
